The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is the weapon of choice of terrorists around the globe, and Canada is not immune. It’s a growing threat that all first responders must contend with. The threat from homegrown extremists and international terrorist networks is very real. It’s crucial for all first responders to become proficient in the tactics, techniques and procedures to deal with this threat.
The HME course provides first responders with information on general explosive characteristics and hazards, homemade explosive precursor materials, homemade explosive manufacturing indicators, and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components. Additionally, the course teaches first responders how to identify a homemade explosive laboratory and how to establish scene safety and security in such an incident.
This self-paced module focuses on understanding organized crime, organized criminal groups. It also focuses on the social and criminal justice responses to organized crime, including law enforcement tools and prosecution strategies.
The training is a comprehensive course that focuses on the structure and content of Street Gangs in Ontario and provides knowledge of current gang trends, while building the skills necessary to the Law Enforcement setting.

Emotionally Disturbed Persons (EDP) topic examines and explains nature of people with social, mental, or behavioral problems and equips cops with the tools they need to safely handle these subjects, many of whom are close to suicide. Dealing with an emotionally disturbed person can be one of the most challenging encounters for Law Enforcement.
In this course we consider big ideas in diversity science with a focus on understanding concrete strategies to halt bias in its tracks. To know how to solve a problem, though, it’s necessary to understand the root of the problem. This course thus considers several major issues in diversity and unconscious bias.

Mental health-related issues are contributing factors to an increasing number of incidents of Employee absenteeism, lost productivity and low morale. Both personal and work-related mental health challenges can significantly impact an organization.
Part of an effective Health and Safety program includes providing support resources and trained personnel who have the knowledge and skills to provide assistance during a mental health crisis. This includes having the ability to identify, understand and respond to the early signs and symptoms of addiction and/or issues involving mental health.
Workplace violence is an incident of violence or threat of violence against workers. This includes both internal and external threats, including criminal intent, customer or client harassment, worker-on-worker or personal and/or domestic relationships.
Notes are the foundation of an investigation and can often come into play months or years after an incident. No longer a means of simply refreshing an officer’s memory, notes play a critical role in judicial proceedings where there is a direct link between an officer’s notes, their report, and their testimony.
The goal of this online Courtroom Preparation and Testimony course is to give law enforcement officers of all skill levels (patrol through seasoned detectives) the tools required to successfully prosecute a criminal case by understanding that a case can never be proven by conducting a “probable cause” investigation but rather by investigating a case “beyond a reasonable doubt” – “thinking about the trial from day one”.

The ability to communicate effectively is critical to success in the workplace. At work, the people we communicate with may include managers, colleagues, subordinates, customers, suppliers, and the general public, to name a few. In addition, effective communication improves job performance and enhances our day-to-day contact with others.
